Ways to tie properly

It can be said that ties are the most familiar accessory for gentlemen, especially in Sartorial style. Just like the art of tying scarves for women, the use, coordination, and tying of ties also need to be carefully selected and practiced to bring the most perfect appearance to their owner. Choosing the right tie and tie style for each outfit will help make your look more sophisticated. In this article, let's take a look at 07 ways to tie a tie like a gentleman!

1. Four in Hand Knot

Is the first tie style that fathers will teach their sons on their "journey" to becoming a gentleman. Four in Hand Knot is suitable for narrow collars, has a simple way of tying and is suitable for many events and situations. However, due to the small knot and slightly asymmetrical knot shape, this knot style will be quite picky for occasions that require solemnity. Therefore, gentlemen often use Four in Hand Knot for parties that are youthful, modern, and comfortable.

Tutorial:

Step 1: First, open your collar, hold the tie in your hand and place the wide side of the tie on the right side, while the narrower (smaller) side is on the left and placed high. more than about 30cm.

Step 2: Hold the wide end of the tie over the left side of the narrow end, holding the two ends of the tie together with your left hand, near your neck.

Step 3: Use your right hand to hold the end of the wide plate, slide it behind the narrow plate and pull it to the side.

Step 4: Continue going up again right where your left hand is holding the two copies (the front of the tie is still facing forward and the seams are hidden at the back).

Step 5: Right hand still holds the end of the wide plate and pulls up the back of the two plates at the neck.

Step 6: Bring the wide end down through the gap in the knot.

Step 7: Hold the narrow end of the plate and push the knot upward until close to the neck. Adjust the knot evenly and tightly, close the collar down, and adjust the length of the tie accordingly. Ideally, the wide end should fit close to your waist.

2. Pratt

Pratt Knot is the ideal knot for gentlemen who love simplicity and convenience because it is flexible and suitable for all situations. With this way of tying, you can freely combine it with your favorite suit and go to any party, whether intimate or formal. The Pratt Knot has a triangular design, the knot is a bit looser than the Windsor, and is easy to untie. The Pratt Knot is most perfect when using a medium-thick and large tie. When tied, the "filler" will have a width between the Four in Hand Knot and the Half Windsor Knot.

Tutorial:

Step 1: Place the tie on the wrong side and thread it around your collar. This way of tying the Pratt starts with the tie on the left side, the wide side of the tie is on the right, and the narrow side is on the left.

Step 2: Check the position of the wide end. Let the wide end just touch the lower eyelid of the belt buckle. However, you can still increase or decrease within 2.5 - 5cm.

Step 3: Cross the wide board over the narrow board, then move the end of the wide board diagonally to the left and under the narrow board.

Step 4: Move the wide version up, cutting across the narrow version at the knot near the collar.

Step 6: Fold the wide sheet from the left side to the right side. This hides the seam side of the wide panel at the back.

Step 7: Pull the wide panel up and behind the intersection of the two panels right where your collar is.

Step 8: Bring the wide end down in front of you through the gap in the knot.

Step 9: Slide the knot up to adjust it so it is right in the center of the collar. Pull the wide strip down to tighten the knot.

3. Half Windsor

Fast - neat - polite, Half Windsor is the top choice of busy gentlemen with many luxurious events and parties. This type of tying is suitable for all types of collars because the tying movements are simpler and more compact than the usual Windsor style. Besides, with Half Windsor you can absolutely choose any favorite tie because it is suitable for all types of small, medium, large ties, as well as different types of fabrics.

Tutorial:

Step 1: Hold the tie in your hand, open the collar and wrap it around your neck. The wide part of the tie is on the right side and is about 30cm lower than the narrow (small) part on the left.

Step 2: Hold the end of the wide end of the tie across the left side and in front of the narrow end.

Step 3: Fold the wide part of the tie behind the narrow part and pull it to the right like the first position. The seam of the wide panel will now be visible in the front.

Step 4: Hold the wide part of the tie and pull it up above the neck and hold firmly at the intersection of the knot.

Step 5: Insert the wide panel in and pull it down to the left.

Step 6: Take the wide edge and fold it over the front of the knot again.

Step 7: Pull the width up the back of the knot a second time.

Step 8: Widen the knot a little and thread the wide strip from top to bottom through the knot.

Step 9: One hand holds the small plate, the other hand gently holds the knot and pushes it up to the top of the collar. Adjust the knot tightly and squeeze gently to form a small dimple in front of the knot.
